As 2 of Harps, the world’s only harp and vocal duo, we are both very excited to share this lovely blog with you. We’re both real foodies, and for us, there’s nothing better than a picnic wedding. We’re really passionate about playing the harp, singing, music and weddings, and sharing our musical ideas with our couples, planning every type of wedding.

We love finding the best music that sounds beautiful on the two harps, and also creates a tranquil wedding atmosphere. We hope you feel inspired with the soundtracks we have compiled for your picnic themed wedding day.

Make yourself comfy, and enjoy reading and listening to your ultimate picnic wedding playlist.

What is a Picnic Wedding?

If you’re wishing for a wonderfully relaxed wedding meal (as your wedding breakfast), a picnic wedding is the perfect option. Picnics are a part of our history and first became popular after the French Revolution, when ordinary people were able to visit the country’s royal parks. In the 18th and 19th century picnics were elaborate events with delicious food and delicacies sometimes taking days to prepare!

Picnic weddings embrace the culture of dining ‘al fresco’, and are very family orientated, or can also be a more intimate occasion shared between two people. A wonderful meal outdoors, shared with your loved ones, complete with a picnic basket, a dainty china cutlery set, and a picnic blanket.

A picnic wedding is a superb way of planning an outdoor wedding breakfast. There are many different ways of organising this:

  • a self-service buffet table with sandwiches, cakes, and lots of delicious snacks
  • a ‘blanket service’ with canapés and posh snacking
  • a traditional picnic with individual picnic baskets for each couple, or family / friends group

Can I book a harpist for my picnic wedding?

Live harp music is the ideal accompaniment whilst enjoying scrumptious food outdoors. It’s a wonderful way to relax and be entertained, lifting the atmosphere, and giving you that luxurious wedding vibe.

As a sister harp and vocal duo, we have been performing at weddings for many years. There are many occasions during your wedding day where a harpist can enhance the atmosphere.

  • The ceremony; as your guests arrive, for that special moment walking down the aisle, light background music as you sign the register, and a celebratory piece of music as you walk back down the aisle and to your reception area.
  • Your pre-picnic drinks; as you celebrate your marriage together with a little tipple, we love playing light modern classical music on the harps, a beautiful addition.
  • The wedding picnic; as you, and any invited guests mingle and enjoy your wedding meal, gentle harp music brings a delightful atmosphere.

Adel, “We really love it when a couple ask us to play and sing for their first dance. It’s special to be part of this special time; an intimate moment between you and your partner.”

Karina, “The song or piece of instrumental music for your first dance is truly personal. I think that the best first dance songs are when a couple have chosen music they both love. It’s all about the LOVE.”
