Top 5 Reasons Why not to Cut Costs on Your Wedding Music

Live music is one of the best investments for your wedding day. Entertainment is a key highlight of a wedding for you and your guests, so it should be included in your budget right at the start of the planning process!

Live music can be such a great investment when it comes to your wedding entertainment and is something that should be included in your budget from the beginning. Too many couples leave music planning as an afterthought, but really, live music should be considered for at least the wedding ceremony and included in the budget. As professional musicians we thought that we would write a blog to show you why a wedding musician is worth the investment for your wedding day.

1. Live Music gives you flexibility during your wedding day

Whilst you may have planned every single moment of your wedding day, the inevitable does sometimes happen, and there are delays or changes to your plans (perhaps due to weather).

Live music is a game changer for your big day and is a life saver when it comes to being late or time changes to your plans. It provides entertainment for you and your loved ones during the day and gives a relaxed atmosphere that no CD or Spotify playlist could match. If you are late to the ceremony, no problem! The live music avoids and awkward silent moments and prevents your guests from getting bored when the recorded music or playlist runs out. With live music, if service during your wedding meal is running late, usually no one notices as they are busy chatting to each other and enjoying the atmosphere.

2. Live music ensures there are less things that could go wrong walking down the aisle

We have all heard those dreaded horror stories of not being able to start the music playing for the big moment. Not having the right cables for the sound system or forgetting to download your music beforehand… Sadly for many brides this has been their reality! No matter how many times, a person practices pressing play on their iPod or CD machine, because they’re relying on technology there is a likelihood at least one of those times it will go wrong!

Other downfalls of having a track playing as you walk down the aisle is keeping time with the music so you don’t arrive at the end of the aisle too soon or run out of music and finish walking up in silence. It really is a nuisance that no bride or groom should be stressing about, and not only that but it takes away from the moment you should be experiencing.

There are also factors such as internet/WiFi signal if you are having a more rural wedding and are deciding to use a streaming platform. It’s a sure way of reeking havoc on the ceremony of your dreams.

Live music eliminates all of that stress and worry and makes sure that things run smoothly! No more timing your steps up the aisle, worrying about cables, signal failure, the wrong track being pressed by accident… things not going to plan.

3. Live music gives you so much choice for your wedding

Live music gives you the freedom to have whatever music you want at your big day. This is especially true when you have acoustic instruments and/or singing. Acoustic covers of all the songs you know and love can be playing in the background from when your guests are sitting down waiting for the ceremony to start, to when you mingle with your friends and family at your wedding meal.

Live music gives you lots of options of musical genres… whether you want rock, pop, musicals, film soundtracks or contemporary classical, it is totally up to you.

You have the freedom to be as involved and hands on in the music planning process as you want.  If you are the type of person that wants to know every single piece of music that is played or see a playlist beforehand, or a person that leaves it up to the musician that is your choice.

You can also choose to match the vibe of the music with the theme of your wedding day, giving it a really well put together feel. As a great example… if you are having a fairytale themed wedding, adding music from Disney films is the perfect way to create a truly magical atmosphere and show your attention to detail.

4. Professional musicians will know what to play as background music during your wedding day

Couples always ask us, “What type of music do you think we should choose for this?”. As professional musicians we always know what type of music to play that will make all your friends and family feel included in your wedding day soundtrack. Before the wedding day we arrange a video call with you and discuss possible music choices. We will ask you what type of music you like and include these suggestions on the day.

5. Live music creates a much better atmosphere at your wedding

Live music is unrivalled when it comes to creating an atmosphere and is the best way of giving your day that special feeling. No online playlist could compete with the feeling that live music gives to your big day. It is the perfect way of adding that understated feeling of luxury and can be a perfect surprise for your friends and family when they arrive at your wedding destination. In the evening it can prevent your day from feeling a little flat and gives it that much needed boost. Time to party!
